Not just a fad
Sustainable development at Schmidt: a mission we share with you; not a matter of words, but of actions. Express interview with Anne Leitzgen, CEO of SALM.
Q Isn’t sustainable development just a fad? R
On the contrary – it’s a long-term mission. Sustainable development is our goal. We will never stop working to attain it. But along the way, we’re taking many small steps forward that confirm the commitment of our entire company in favour of quality and the environment.
Q Can you give us an example? R
We are one of the only kitchen manufacturers to be officially NF Environnement Ameublement certified. That recognition comes in addition to the triple certification – ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14 001 (Environment) and OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety) – that is the recognition of the policy we have been building for 50 years. Sustainable development can’t be decreed. It’s an attitude on everyone’s part; it’s a matter of day-to-day management.
Q Do you plan to go even farther? R
These results are only a start. A springboard for moving on to new, stricter standards. The excellence we offer our customers needs to be required of ourselves, in our control over and improvement of our processes.
